When our children learn to read and recognize words easily with little help, the next step to consider is their reading comprehension. Although the teachers give them the keys and teach them how to achieve it, we can give them support at home to achieve it much sooner.

In order to help children understand what they read, it is necessary that we do it in the most interactive and fun possible, based on games, images and tricks that serve as clues and then relate it visually. This will help them not only in the beginning, but also when they already find the reading habit, and can fully understand what their eyes are seeing.

When trying to help our children in reading comprehension, it is necessary that, in addition to knowing how to read the words that appear in the text in question, they stay with what this really means.

To do this, as we read the story with them, it is necessary that we help them with simple dramatizations of the text, that is, with small representations of what they are reading, so that they can easily relate it and then remember it once they have finished reading it. Thus, in addition to the fact that this residue will remain in their memory, they will also have fun remembering what they have read, and it will be valid for later reading.

1. The questions about the text they have read: A very simple game for reading comprehension is the questions. But not those that are conventional and that deal directly with the text, but those that can be fun, such as alternate endings, the truth and the lies ... If there is more than one child, even this will help them to move faster to overcome.

2. The Truth Game: Above all, it will be very useful the game of truth, in which they will have to think about what really happened in the plot without inventing it, realizing what was happening and what is not true. It is about summarizing in a few words what happened in the story you have just read.

3. Make up a song: On the other hand, you can also do comprehension tests of the story or book in question if you can create melodies or songs -very simple-, with some parts or the names of the characters. In this way they will remember it in a simple way. Try to create a song with the story you just read. You will see what fun!

4. Change the end of the story: Regarding the alternate endingsIt is an easy way for them to 'recount' what was happening in the text, and how they would have solved the mess, which will also make them use their imagination.
